In just three years, ABC has built up an installation business that, as of August 1, has 50 employees. We are now taking the next strategic step by establishing a new department within Building Performance, which brings together expertise in building automation, commissioning, and operations. The department will be led by Henrik Toelstang Jørgensen, who has just joined ABC from COWI.
When ABC Consulting Engineers established its installations division in 2023, it was with the ambition of expanding the company’s consulting services in the field of building technical installations. Since then, the division has grown significantly, and with the establishment of the new Building Performance division, ABC is now taking the next step in the development of its installations business.
According to Kasper Lyngsfeldt, who has been in charge of the installations business since 2023, the launch is not just about adding another department, but about establishing a practice that is becoming increasingly important to building owners, investors, developers, and operations organizations.
"Building performance is the natural next step in the development of our installation business. We are seeing a construction industry with a growing focus on how buildings perform during operation, and this increases the need for a stronger connection between design, commissioning, and long-term operation. That is why we are now bringing together expertise in building automation, commissioning, and operations into a single specialized department, which will ensure that the installations function as a comprehensive solution and support the building’s performance throughout its entire lifespan,” he explains.
At ABC, we are seeing a construction industry where the demands on building performance during operation are constantly increasing. This is particularly true in the areas of energy, indoor climate, and operational stability.
At the same time, a building’s technical systems are becoming more complex and increasingly interdependent. Here, building automation plays an increasingly important role as the layer that ties the systems together and ensures they function as a unified solution.
"Building automation is playing an increasingly central role in the construction industry. It is through control, monitoring, and data collection that a building’s performance can be documented and its operation continuously optimized. At the same time, building automation is the system that ensures the interaction between the technical systems, and we therefore view this area as a key prerequisite for buildings where indoor climate, energy efficiency, and operational reliability are high priorities,” says Kasper Lyngsfeldt.
Recruits Experienced Professional from COWI
To implement this strategy and lead the new Building Performance department, ABC has recruited 47-year-old Henrik Toelstang Jørgensen from COWI. He brings with him more than 10 years of experience in commissioning, electrical systems, building automation, and client consulting, most recently as a section manager. He says:
“I’m truly excited about the opportunity to help establish and develop the new Building Performance department. ABC is a company that combines a high level of professional expertise with a culture where the path from idea to action is short. This provides a solid foundation for developing an area with significant growth potential while remaining closely connected to clients, employees, and projects. So personally, I look forward to contributing to the development of ABC’s expertise in building automation, commissioning, and operations, and to building a strong professional environment within Building Performance.”
