Nature of the Project
Egehusene is a townhouse project built on four lots located in Egedal Municipality.
The townhouse concept was developed in collaboration between the housing association 3B and the architectural firm LETH & GORI, under the name Robuste Små Boliger.
“Robuste Små Boliger” is a housing concept that fulfills the dream of a home—a townhouse with a private terrace—even for society’s most vulnerable. These are small homes where space is utilized optimally, featuring architecturally and functionally robust dwellings built according to well-known Danish building traditions using durable materials that remain sound even after years of heavy wear and tear.
The project involves the construction of Robust Small Homes with a focus on traditional building materials. All buildings, except for Brændekær, are traditionally founded on concrete strip footings extending to a sustainable layer and, at a minimum, to a frost-free depth. The ground floor slabs are likewise constructed in the traditional manner as reinforced concrete slabs on compression-resistant insulation and a capillary-breaking layer built directly on the bearing layer. For Brændekær, where the bearing layer—according to the geotechnical report—lies 2–3 meters below ground level, the buildings are expected to be founded on piles or bored foundations. Across these, cast-in-place foundation beams will be constructed to support the walls and ground-level slabs.
Exterior walls will be constructed using 46-cm H+H thermal blocks, consisting of three layers cast in a single pour—an inner load-bearing layer of aerated concrete with a density of 375 ± 15 kg/m³, in the middle, a core of rigid Kooltherm insulation material; and on the outside, 125 mm of aerated concrete with a density of 375 ±15 kg/m³ to provide the facade with the necessary strength. The roof structure consists of wooden roof cassettes.
