Nature of the Project
The Municipality of Gentofte is modernizing its residential and day care facilities for children and adults with disabilities. The municipality’s goal is to create the best possible environment for staff and residents so that everyone can live a dignified life—even those with severe, care-intensive disabilities.
The construction sites are located in the area with respect for the existing buildings and allow for phased expansion over time. The project is part of a larger local planning project covering 77,000 m², which has been selected to represent Danish humanistic architecture at the Venice Architecture Biennale. In total, the project involves the construction of 120 care residences as well as two day/residential care facilities.
ABC has served as a sub-consultant to Wissenberg, providing structural engineering services for the new construction of the Troldemosen facility and the Lundø respite home for the Municipality of Gentofte.
Troldemosen is intended to serve as a preschool for children aged 0–7 with physical, mental, and multiple disabilities.
Lundø is a respite care home for families with children and young people under the age of 18 living at home who have significant and permanent physical and mental functional impairments.
The project involves the construction of a new, approximately 2,680 m² L-shaped building spread over two stories.
The building will be constructed using traditional precast concrete elements, supplemented by steel and composite structures. The project was developed in close collaboration with Wissenberg and Vandkunsten to ensure a stimulating and nurturing environment. At the same time, there were large outdoor areas that needed to be integrated into the overall design of the site.
